Greenport sits near the tip of Long Island’s North Fork, about 100 miles east of Manhattan.
About 2 to 2½ hours without traffic. Take the Long Island Expressway (I-495) east to the end, then follow Route 25 or County Road 48 into Greenport. Leave early on Friday; eastbound traffic builds fast. For a pit stop, Briermere Farms in Riverhead is right on the way and famous for its pies.
Take the LIRR Ronkonkoma Branch from Penn Station or Grand Central and change at Ronkonkoma for Greenport, the last stop. Only a few trains run east of Ronkonkoma each day, so check the schedule before you plan.
